ABOUT US

This department’s curriculum covers time periods ranging from the emergence of Ancient Sumerian Civilisation to the post-Cold War period, locations from North America to China, and content from the political and social developments in ancient civilisations to contemporary world history. Particular strengths are the studies of economic, political, militaristic, religious, cultural, and agrarian history of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey. The programme aims to stimulate linguistic and critical approaches to the study of the past and make students familiar with a wide range of disciplines involved. The graduates can work in both the public and private sector or can be employed as teachers.
